Checking In With the Skip (Mark Parent, June 4th)

Before Friday's game at Hagerstown, we sat down for a few minutes with BlueClaws manager Mark Parent, who shared some thoughts on a number of topics, including the hot hitting of Leandro Castro and Sebastian Valle:

"Staying on the ball and hitting it to right-center field is how you compete at the higher levels, and that's what their doing right now. When you stay on the ball, you get better. I wish they had the chance to go watch big league BP one day, that's all they do, hit it to right-center."

He also comments on pitchers Jarred Cosart and Brody Colvin as well as SS Jonathan Villar, the pennant race and more.

Before Wednesday's game in Hagerstown, we sat down with BlueClaws pitching coach Steve Schrenk for this ClawCast in which he talks about BlueClaws pitchers Jarred Cosart and Brody Colvin, among others.

Before Tuesday's double-header in Hagerstown, we sat down with BlueClaws hitting coach Greg Legg, whose charges pounded out 14 runs on 21 hits in a Monday win at Delmarva.

Legg touches on a number of players, including Sebastian Valle (who hit two home runs in the Delmarva series), Jonathan Villar (who stole 15 bases in May), Leandro Castro (who hit his fourth home run of the year on Monday) and more. He also comments on the current pennant race and the general state of the Claws as they make a push towards a second consecutive playoff appearance.

ClawCast: BlueClaws RHP Jordan Ellis

Before Monday's game at Delmarva, we sat down with BlueClaws RHP Jordan Ellis, who has assumed the closer's role for the BlueClaws. Ellis earned his second save of the year on Sunday, and has allowed just two hits, no runs and now walks over his last 10.2 innings, and two earned runs in his last 17.2 innings pitched.

Ellis was a 25th round pick in 2008 out of Villanova and is from Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
