LAKEWOOD, NJ – Despite being the first half champions, the Lakewood BlueClaws started the second half the same way they did the first, with a loss to the Delmarva Shorebirds. LAKEWOOD, NJ – A day after clinching the first half title and a spot in the 2009 South Atlantic League Playoffs, the Lakewood BlueClaws win another game as they had been all season long, 2-1 in ten innings. HAGERSTOWN, MD – By virtue of their 8-3 victory Thursday night against the Hagerstown Suns, the Lakewood BlueClaws have clinched the championship in the South Atlantic League Northern Division for the first half of the season. The winner of each half of the season also earns a birth into the 2009 SAL playoffs. With a record of 40-25, the BlueClaws can not be passed in the standings with four games to play.

EAST LAKE, OH – The Lakewood BlueClaws got a very strong six innings from Jesus Sanchez and equally strong run support in a well-played 5-2 victory against the Lake County Captains on Friday night. Read more about Game Recap 6/12/09 .

LAKEWOOD, NJ – The Lakewood BlueClaws lost a 1-0 lead in the ninth inning, and lost the game in the eleventh as they lose to the Hagerstown Suns 3-1 and cling to their lead in the South Atlantic League Northern Division. With the loss, the BlueClaws are now .5 games ahead of the Delmarva Shorebird, with an extra loss in the loss column.

LAKEWOOD, NJ – In a superb relief outing, Patrick McCoy pitched 6.1 innings and shut out the Lakewood BlueClaws in a 4-3 win for the Hagerstown Suns on Tuesday night. With just 14 games the play, the BlueClaws will remain in first place, but their lead will shrink to 1.5 games over the Delmarva Shorebirds.

Greg Giombarrese had a chance to sit down with new BlueClaws OF Steve Susdorf. A Fresno State product, Susdorf was on the College World Series Champions last year, hit a grand slam in his first at bat of his pro career, and is now with the BlueClaws in his second professional season, after missing the first seven weeks with a hip injury. LAKEWOOD, NJ – The “Cardiac Claws” get a run in the ninth to tie and win it in the tenth on a single by Jeremy Hamilton to defeat the West Virginia Power by the score of 3-2. The win gives the Lakewood BlueClaws a 5-3 homestand and a 3-1 series win.
