What does it mean to be a Lean Organization? Lean is about being able to do more with less and get more with less. Lean is about eliminating set-up steps, reducing inventory, speed up delivery, improve cash flow, and becoming more efficient. Lean Principles can be applied and are effective in any Business Organization.
The goal of a Lean Enterprise is to apply the common sense business practices embodied by Lean thinking to all areas of a business. There are many well documented successes in manufacturing applications. However, service organizations and administrative processes within companies have struggled with applying these concepts. NJMEP offers a one day Lean Office Workshop geared to business professionals that involve participants in discussion and simulation. Lean Techniques from Manufacturing can be applied to improve the office processes of any organization. Examples of dramatic improvement of two service organizations are highlighted.
With the use of the simulation, the Lean Office participants gain the experience of an actual office kaizen event, and identify ideas for improvement. Decisions in the Lean Office Workshops must be quickly agreed upon. Then, the group is broken into smaller groups to implement the ideas agreed upon. Strict time expectations will be given for the implementation. Therefore, the experience will closely relate to an actual office kaizen event.
Lean Office Techniques, when applied, will improve companies Sales, Profits, Productivity, Cash flow, overall quality and much more.
