Right-hander throws seven one-hit innings to beat Savannah

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Mike Stutes delivered another masterful performance on Tuesday night, giving up just one hit in seven scoreless frames against Savannah to help the BlueClaws to a 4-0 victory over the Sand Gnats at FirstEnergy Park.

Stutes (4-0) took his fourth win in his fourth start in a BlueClaws uniform. He has now allowed one earned run in his first 26 South Atlantic League innings. Stutes, who was selected in the 11th round of the 2008 Draft out of Oregon State, struck out six.

HAGERSTOWN, Md. -- Mike Stutes continued to dominate South Atlantic League competition, giving Lakewood seven dominant innings to help the BlueClaws to a 4-0 victory over Hagerstown on Wednesday night at Municipal Stadium.

Stutes, an 11th round draft pick in 2008, did not allow a run in his seven frames on the mound. He gave up just three hits total, but did not allow a base hit after the fourth. Stutes (3-0) also struck out a career-high 12 batters, while walking just two.

BlueClaws squander early chances

The BlueClaws missed a series of early opportunities on Tuesday night at First Energy Park and got nothing going late as Hagerstown rallied for a 5-3 victory. The loss snapped Lakewood's four game winning streak. Lakewood put the first five hitters on base in the first inning against Hagerstown starter Brad Meyers, but managed just two runs. After three innings, the BlueClaws had put seven hits on the board and the Suns had committed two errors, yet Lakewood led just 3-1.
