Walk-off error ends 12-inning affair
HAGERSTOWN, Md.-It was a controversial ending to a fantastic game on Tuesday night at Municipal Stadium, as the Hagerstown Suns captured a walk-off 9-8 victory over the BlueClaws in the bottom of the 12th. With two runners on and two outs in the 12th, Derrick Mitchell threw wide of first on a Mark Gildea groundball that should have ended the inning. BlueClaws first baseman Karl Bolt appeared to get the tag on Gildea before he touched the base , but first base umpire Spencer Flynn ruled Bolt missed the tag. Pinch runner Robbie Jacobson came into score from second base for the winning run.
