Michael Crotta allowed just one run over 6 2/3 innings and the BlueClaws left 11 runners on base as Hickory picked up a 3-1 win over Lakewood in front of 7,953 on Saturday night.

With the win, the Crawdads (34-21) improve to six games over the BlueClaws (27-26). The clubs have split the first two games of the four game series.

A scheduled double-header was rained into one nine-inning game, but it was still a successful night for the BlueClaws at FirstEnergy Park. Lakewood picked up a 5-0 win over Hickory to move within five games of the first-place Crawdads. Additionally, it was the first time in BlueClaws history they hosted two rehabbing Phillies in the same day. Shane Victorino, rehabbing a strained right calf, went 1-4 with a run scored. Archie Gilbert’s two-run triple broke a 3-3 tie and came as part of a four-run Kannapolis seventh inning as the Intimidators came back to beat Lakewood 6-3 on Monday night at FirstEnergy Park.  Gilbert’s triple came two batters after John Anderson tied the game with an RBI double over the head of Lakewood LF Jay Miller. Tuffy Gosewisch’s RBI triple broke a 4-4 tie in the 7^th inning and Lakewood went on to pick up a 7-4 win over Kannapolis on Saturday in front of 8,546 at FirstEnergy Park.

Quintin Berry was 3-5 and scored three runs as Lakewood jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings before going on for an 8-1 win over Kannapolis on Saturday at FirstEnergy Park.

Lee Cruz and Chris Carter homered as Kannapolis pounded out 13 hits in a 10-5 win over Lakewood on Sunday night.

Kannapolis (20-23) ended a three game losing streak and wiped out a three game Lakewood (22-20) winning streak in the process.

Lucas Montero tripled in two runs in the 3^rd inning and Lake County took the lead and never looked back in a 5-2 win over the BlueClaws on Thursday night.

The Captains (28-28) take the rubber game from Lakewood (29-28) after the BlueClaws won the middle game the night before.

Rod Barajas singled in Adrian Cardenas to cap a three-run Lakewood 7^th inning as the BlueClaws came from behind to beat Lake County 5-4 on Tuesday night at FirstEnergy Park.

Cardenas tied the game two pitches earlier with a two-run single against Luis Valdez (2-3). Barajas, on his 2^nd MLB rehab assignment (groin strain) with the BlueClaws this season, followed with a two-base hit down the left field line just out of the reach of Niuman Romero.

Carlos Monasterios threw 8 1/3 innings, allowing just one run, and Lakewood scored five runs in the 6th inning to top Lake County 5-3 at FirstEnergy Park.  Lakewood (34-30) wins their fourth game in a row, while Lake County (32-31) falls to 5.5 games back of Hickory with five games remaining, and they are eliminated. The BlueClaws are four games out with five to play.

Edgar Garcia threw seven shutout innings and one Lakewood run was good enough as the BlueClaws won their 5^th straight game in a 1-0 triumph over Lake County on Wednesday night.

Lakewood (35-30) wins their 5^th game in a row and sweeps a series for the first time since the final week of June. The are 3.5 games behind Hickory, who leads 1-0 over Asheville in the 4^th inning with their game suspended by rain. It will be finished Friday before the regularly scheduled game.
