Antonio Bastardo had never pitched above the Gulf Coast League before this season, but he seems to be adjusting just fine to the South Atlantic League. The lefty threw six shutout innings while striking out nine as Lakewood opened a two-game series with a 2-1 win at Delmarva.

Greensboro (12-19) has taken the first two games of the four-game series which Lakewood entered on a three-game win streak. Greensboro scored their nine runs on just six hits (Lakewood walked seven as a staff), while Lakewood could only turn their 11 hits into four runs.

Alan Robbins hit his first professional home run and drove in three, while Quintin Berry added three more hits as Lakewood ended a four-game skid with a 7-5 win over Greenville on Wednesday night.

Robbins’ homer came in the 5^th after he had an RBI double in the 3^rd. Berry went 3-4 on the night and finishes the eight-game road trip 20-39, with hits in seven of the eight games (all multi-hit games). He also scored two runs and with 137 hits, he is just three behind Jake Blalock for the single-season hit record, which was set in 2004.

Matt Sheely’s 8^th inning single gave Greenville an 8-7 lead in the bottom of the 8^th inning, capping a comeback from 7-1 down to take their 3^rd straight game from Lakewood on Tuesday night.

As soon as Lakewood took the first lead on Friday night, Hagerstown scored three in the top of the 6^th to take the lead for good and the Suns went on for a 7-4 series-opening victory at FirstEnergy Park on Friday night.

The loss puts Lakewood back at .500 at 29-29 and is their 3^rd in four games. Hagerstown (21-39) wins the 2^nd in a row after a four-game losing streak.

Jay Miller also added a pair of RBI singles for the BlueClaws (30-30) who snapped a three-game losing streak. Hagerstown (22-40) in-turn see their three-game winning streak come to an end.

Darren Byrd tossed a complete game five-hitter as Lakewood topped Hagerstown 3-1 on Monday night at Municipal Stadium.

Byrd (9-10) struck out eight in the win, including Marcos Cabral to end the game with a runner at first base. It was the first complete game of Byrd’s career and the 2^nd for the BlueClaws in 2007 (Carlos Monasterios, July 20^th vs. West Virginia).
