Mattair knocks in game-winning run
HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Darren Byrd overcame both thunderstorms and the Hagerstown Suns on Monday night, as the right-hander helped the BlueClaws to a 2-0 win at Municipal Stadium.
Byrd (1-1) allowed just two hits in six innings, striking out four without allowing a run. He did it all in a consistent downpour that featured thunder, lightning and even hail. Byrd was forced to depart following a 35-minute rain delay in the top of the seventh inning. Byrd's counterpart, Erik Arnesen, matched him almost pitch for pitch until the sixth inning, when the BlueClaws broke through for their first run of the game.
