BlueClaws starter outduels Bumgarner
LAKEWOOD, N.J. -Chance Chapman outdueled first rounder Madison Bumgarner on Thursday night at FirstEnergy Park in to help the BlueClaws to a 3-2 victory in a battle of staff aces. Chapman nearly went the distance, allowing just two earned runs on six hits over 8 2/3 innings. He also struck out seven hitters and walked just two. It was the longest performance for Chapman (6-5), who put together an eight-inning complete game in a loss at Lexington on April 27.

Before Friday's game at Hagerstown, we sat down for a few minutes with BlueClaws manager Mark Parent, who shared some thoughts on a number of topics, including the hot hitting of Leandro Castro and Sebastian Valle:
"Staying on the ball and hitting it to right-center field is how you compete at the higher levels, and that's what their doing right now. When you stay on the ball, you get better. I wish they had the chance to go watch big league BP one day, that's all they do, hit it to right-center."
He also comments on pitchers Jarred Cosart and Brody Colvin as well as SS Jonathan Villar, the pennant race and more.
